0.75-2.2kW 3 Phase 380V Solar Pump and General Purpose Inverter VFD

The 0.75-2.2kW 3 Phase 380V Solar Pump and General Purpose Inverter VFD combines photovoltaic pump control with conventional variable-frequency motor control in one iMaster VFD-PC10 platform. As a manufacturer in China, CSIVEI supplies 380 V three-phase models with MPPT tracking for solar pumping, plus SVC/V/F control, built-in PID and Modbus RTU for general-purpose applications. The 900 VDC maximum input supports the single-string array configurations listed for this range. Contact us for model selection, parameter configuration and a quotation.

Csivei factory's 0.75-2.2kW 3 Phase 380V Solar Pump and General Purpose Inverter VFD features high-voltage DC input range. The maximum DC input is 900 VDC, with a recommended open-circuit voltage range of 550–750 VDC and an MPPT range of 450–600 VDC. The adjustable start-voltage range is 300–900 VDC. These values provide the basis for selecting the panel string shown in the recommended array table.

The series covers three motor ratings: 0.75 kW, 1.5 kW and 2.2 kW. Their rated output currents are 2.1 A, 3.8 A and 5.1 A respectively. Each model is designed for a three-phase 380 V AC supply and can also work with a correctly configured photovoltaic array in solar pump mode. The choice of operating mode determines whether the drive is used for solar pumping or as a general-purpose inverter.

For the module options listed, the recommended array uses one string of 18 modules rated at 250 W (37±1 V) or one string of 15 modules rated at 300 W (45±1 V). Higher PV string voltage can mean lower DC current for a given power level, which may help manage cable current and voltage drop on longer runs. Final string design must use the actual module electrical data and keep the array’s maximum open-circuit voltage within the drive’s limit.

The three models share a compact chassis measuring 171 × 86 × 138 mm and weighing approximately 1 kg. A mounting footprint of 67.3 × 157.5 mm helps fit the inverter into smaller control cabinets or equipment enclosures. This compact form is useful where a small pump or machine needs variable-speed control but installation space is limited.

Two Operating Modes on One Drive

Solar Pump Mode

With P8-00 set to 1, the drive operates in solar pump mode. MPPT tracking adjusts operation in response to available photovoltaic power, while weak-light logic and pump-related protection functions help manage changing solar conditions. The array string voltage, motor rating and pump requirements must all be checked when specifying the system.

General-Purpose Inverter Mode

With P8-00 set to 0, the same hardware can be used for compatible three-phase motors without a solar array. SVC or V/F control supports motor-speed regulation, while built-in PID and RS485 Modbus RTU are available for suitable pressure, flow or process-control applications. CSIVEI can configure the requested operating mode before shipment; a later mode change is made through the relevant parameters and should follow the product manual.

Typical Applications

This power range is intended for smaller three-phase pumps and motor-driven equipment where adjustable speed, solar operation or both are useful.

  • Greenhouse and polytunnel systems: Drive irrigation pumps and compatible ventilation fans on a three-phase supply.
  • Orchard and vineyard irrigation: Regulate pump speed in drip systems supplied by a borehole or storage pond.
  • Small community water points: Operate pumps that transfer water from a source to an elevated storage tank.
  • Aquaculture and landscape water features: Control circulation, water exchange or fountain pumps where the motor rating matches the drive.
  • Workshop and light industrial equipment: Control compatible process pumps, coolant circulation equipment and small compressors in general-purpose mode.
  • For pump systems, adjustable acceleration and deceleration can help manage the rate at which flow builds and falls. Correct ramp settings depend on the pump, pipework and hydraulic conditions; they should be selected during commissioning rather than assumed from motor power alone.

    Technical Highlights

    900 VDC Input for a Single-String Array

The recommended array configurations use 18 modules at 250 W or 15 modules at 300 W in one string. The inverter supports up to 900 VDC, with a recommended Voc range of 550–750 VDC and an MPPT range of 450–600 VDC. Check the module’s actual open-circuit voltage under site temperature conditions before confirming the string.

    Solar Pump and General-Purpose Modes

Set P8-00 to 1 for solar pump mode or 0 for general-purpose mode. The same platform combines MPPT-based solar pumping with SVC/V/F motor control, built-in PID and Modbus RTU, allowing it to serve suitable pump or light-machinery applications.

    Weak-Light and Pump Protection Functions

P8-10 to P8-14 configure weak-light stop and restart behavior. Underload protection and water-level inputs can also support pump protection when correctly wired and configured for the installation.

    Compact Frame with Integrated Control

The 171 × 86 × 138 mm chassis weighs approximately 1 kg. Built-in PID, five digital inputs, analog I/O and RS485 Modbus RTU provide local control and integration options without requiring a separate PID controller for supported closed-loop applications.

    FAQ

How many panels for a 2.2 kW three-phase pump?

18 modules of 250 W (37 V type) in a single string, or 15 modules of 300 W (45 V type). Both land the array inside the recommended 550 to 750 VDC open-circuit range. Do not exceed 900 VDC, which is the rated maximum.

Can it run a three-phase pump with no grid connection at all?

Yes, that is the normal off-grid setup. Wire the array to the DC terminals and the pump to U, V and W, set P8-15 to 1 for solar supply, and the drive runs whenever the array delivers enough voltage.

Does it need an encoder or a separate pump controller?

Neither. Control is sensorless vector or V/F, both without feedback. MPPT, dry-run protection, underload protection and optional PID for constant pressure are already in the drive.

What is the lowest frequency it will run the pump at?

P8-09 sets the lower limit of operating frequency, 10.00 Hz by default. Together with the weak-light threshold in P8-10, that is what stops the drive from spinning a pump too slowly to move water.

    Can I monitor it remotely?

Over RS485 with Modbus RTU, yes. Operating frequency, bus voltage, output current, output power, DI and DO status and the current supply mode are all readable from the U0 monitoring group, with supply mode at U0-49 showing grid or solar.

Does it work with no solar array at all?

Yes. A large share of this size ships in general-purpose mode, driving greenhouse fans, workshop pumps, coolant circulation and small compressors on a 380 V supply with no array anywhere on site. Same hardware, same parameters, different mode. Tell us which one you want when you order. A unit bought in solar pump mode is switched across by setting P8-00 to 0.

What is the lead time on a mixed order?

Tell us the model mix and quantity and we quote a ship date in writing with the price. Standard ratings and OEM-branded units do not ship on the same schedule, because the case printing and labels are made to your artwork, so it is worth deciding that before you order.
